In a recent study of home buyer preferences conducted by Avid Ratings Co., we learned a lot about what today\u2019s new home buyer is looking for.\u00a0 How does this relate to properly packaging, marketing and staging an existing home when going on the market? First of all, we can probably assume that these preferences would be applicable to those purchasing pre-owned homes as well.\u00a0 Since the definition of staging includes \u201cpreparing a property to appeal to the most number\u00a0of buyers as possible\u201d and this study shows us what most buyers are looking for, BINGO…we\u2019ve got the ingredients for our action plan right before our eyes. First let\u2019s take a look at the\u00a0Top Features Buyers Want in a New Home:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Large kitchens with an island.<\/p>\n

2. Energy-efficient appliances and high-efficiency insulation and windows. (These were the most sought-after \u201cgreen\u201d features from buyers.)<\/p>\n

3. Home office or study<\/p>\n

4. Main-floor master suite<\/p>\n

5. Outdoor living room<\/p>\n

6. Ceiling fans<\/p>\n

7. Master suite soaker tubs and oversize showers with seating areas<\/p>\n

8. Stone and brick exteriors<\/p>\n

9. Community landscaping with walking paths and playgrounds.<\/p>\n
